Shadowboxing at RCA

Do individuals and society question enough the way knowledge, education and culture are appropriated, managed and disseminated by institutions and the media? How might interwoven cultural forces and mechanisms of power, knowledge and governance which influence behaviour and ideology be intercepted and challenged, or even disrupted?

Shadowboxing asks four international artists and event curators to consider similar questions about cultural provenance and management over the course of two and a half weeks at the RCA in London. The event will include an exhibition or intervention staged by each artist in response to the project, together with film programmes and discussions which will help to broaden the scope of their inquiry.

The concurrent publication of interviews and conversations with relevant people from the cultural and political field will ‘make visible’ the processes of this unique collabration between artists and curators.

(Shadowboxing is coordinated by graduating students from RCA’s Curating Contemporary Art MA programme, and runs until Sunday 3 April. Admission to each event is free!)
